Job Description

This exciting new role comes from a global manufacturer and 1st tier supplier with a strong history providing market-leading products to OEM’s across the UK. Committed to continued growth they are seeking an ambitious engineer to be responsible for the application of their fuel filtration products.

As applications engineer you will be the key contact for customer inquiries, developing strong working relationships and liaising with the client from inquiry through the full delivery lifecycle. Working closely with the design and sales teams you will support the design and development of cost-effective and innovative solutions that match customer requirements, identifying opportunity for new product lines as you go.

Your key responsibilities will include:

-          All technical customer liaison on key projects ensuring that designs meet customer specification and are commercially viable given cost, time and application considerations


-          Customer Interface Drawings (CID) and connected 3D CAD models for the customer and to support quotations


-          Driving innovative product introductions in line with your knowledge of customer requirements and market demand


-          Lead multi-discipline project meetings


-          Support new business tenders through supply of technical material and design strategy


-          Conceptual Design and specification, before supporting the design team with BOM, cost estimates and delivery of prototypes


-          Compiling design and validation plans


-          Maintain documentation and project files in line with TS16949


-          Visiting OEM customers and independent engine developers to drive growth

For this key position, they are seeking an engineer with 2-3 years + experience in design or applications with customer facing/sales experience.  In addition, they would like you to evidence the following skills/experience:


-          Qualified Mechanical Engineer Degree or HNC/HND plus experience


-          Innovative design ability and good 3D CAD skills ideally Inventor or Pro Engineer


-          Good problem-solving skills as you create innovative, cost-effective solutions to customer specifications


-          Ideally a good knowledge of Diesel engines or related filtration products

You will also need to be willing to travel internationally on a frequent basis.
