Advanced Research Engineer – Control Architect and Algorithm Developer

This exciting opportunity will let you do all of the above and more as you join one of the UK’s leading technology centers dedicated to the continuous advancement of technology, processes and the Manufacturing sector within the UK.

Joining the Intelligent Automation team you will be responsible for delivering projects related to intelligent control systems engineering for mid to high technology readiness (TRL4-7) applications. Overall you will contribute to digital manufacturing and industry 4.0 related projects through creative problem solving, solution concepts, system design and system integration specifically focusing on control systems engineering. This will include technical leadership and project management of projects >100k.

A varied role you will work with a diverse range of clients across multiple industry sectors including automotive, aerospace, rail, food & drink, electronics, defense, O&G and construction/civil engineering.

To carry out this position they are seeking an engineer with previous experience in machine vision and image processing able to demonstrate a strong awareness of intelligent automation technologies and requirements.

Further skills/experience they require includes:

-          3 + years’ experience in model-based control engineering including discrete and continuous systems


-          Strong understanding of advanced control algorithms and architectures


-          Experienced in modelling, simulation and validation of complex control systems using Matlab/Simulink


-          Able to analyse control requirements of manufacturing equipment and processes at a system level.


-          Experience with high levels programming languages such as Java, C#, C++, SQL and Python


-          A relevant Degree, Masters or Ph.D. with industrial experience
