Job Description

This exciting new role comes from a multi-national business specialising in the design and manufacture of electro-mechanical machinery on a bespoke and low volume basis. Their machines support the test and development of high tech equipment within multiple sectors including aerospace, automotive, space and consumer products to name a few.

In this varied role you will focus on electrical and electronic product changes that maintain and improve product quality and DFM.  This will involve developing new concepts into detailed designs for manufacturing. It will also include design for manufacture of new materials using your calculation, FMEA, FEA and both your3D and 2D CAD skills. 

Whilst implementing these product or process improvements you will also be responsible for maintaining effective electrical & electronic design control & product lifecycle management through the creation of required technical documentation and bills of material as well as utilisation of company PDM and ERP systems. You will need to working closely with key stakeholders across quality, operations and engineering to successfully introduce your identified product or process improvements.

-          Excellent skills in 3D electrical/Electronic CAD modelling/design (ideally using solidworks though this is not essential)

-          Degree in electrical/electronic or electro-mechanical engineering design or HNC/HND plus relevant experience

-          Previous DFM experience preferably within a medium/large scale manufacture of electrical/electronic, hydraulic or pneumatic products/machinery

-          Proven track record of right first time design and design to cost

-          Experience working with a PDM/PLM and ERP system – beneficial

-          Good understanding of manufacturing processes and lean engineering
